About Olin Dutra (1932) – Lido
Barnstorming Californian Olin Dutra, imitating Gene Sarazen’s finish in the U.S. Open at Fresh Meadow, played his final two rounds in 68 and 65 strokes, seven under par. In fourth place and trailing Rumson professional Vic Ghezzi by five strokes entering the final round, Dutra fired a course record, seven-under-par-65 at Lido to win by two-strokes. Dutra’s 72-hole 282 was seven strokes better than Bill Mehlhorn’s course record 289 at Lido in 1929.
