Mark Mielke (2008) – Fairfield

Forty-six-year-old Mark Mielke of Mill River set a new record of 16 years between Met Open victories, shooting rounds of 65-71-69 (five under par).  Despite his opening 65, Mielke was three stroke behind 25-year-old Tim Hegarty of Sleepy Hollow, whose 62 was the lowest score in Met Open history.  At the end, Mielke held a three-stroke advantage over late–charging Heath Wassem of Fenway.
