Macdonald Smith finished with a new course record 66 and a 71, the latter played in a driving rain, to win by five strokes. Smith led from start to finish, pulling away from Johnny Farrell after 36 holes despite five three-putt greens on the final day. Gene Sarazen rallied to be second, one stroke ahead of Farrell and Willie MacFarlane.
