About Luke Sample (2020) – Mountain Ridge
History was made at Mountain Ridge as 17-year-old Luke Sample became the youngest winner in the Met Open’s 115-year history, and the first amateur to add his name to the trophy since 2005. He began his final round two shots behind early leader Jason Gore of Hamilton Farm, and after a double-bogey on the fourth hole, Sample ran off five consecutive birdies on holes 6-10, plus another one on 12 to propel him to a three-shot . He is just the eighth amateur Met Open winner, and the first teenager.
