About Johnny Farrell (1927) – Wykagyl

After failing several times in recent years, Johnny Farrell broke through at Wykagyl, coming from three strokes behind over the last three holes.  Momentum changed at the 16th when leader Bobby Cruickshank drove out of bounds, then muffed his tee shot on the 17th hole.  On the final green, Farrell sank a 12-foot putt and then Cruickshank missed from five-feet, giving Farrell the title.
