Jimmy Wright (1969) – Fenway

Fourth in the national PGA Championship earlier in the year, Jimmy Wright broke a 36-hole deadlock with Tom Nieporte with a third-round, then played a “safe” round of 73 in the afternoon to hold off the charge of Mike Fetchick in the final round to win by two strokes.  Low amateur honors went to Pete Bostwick, Jr., the world open court tennis champion.
