The then 24-year-old, Jimmy Dee, scored his major 1978 victory in the Ike Championship. Other highlights of his season included a semi-finalist finish in the Met Amateur, low amateur in the New Jersey Open, second low amateur in the Met Open, and advancing to the fourth round of match play in the U.S. Amateur.
Dee’s total points added up to 527. He beat out former player of the year Dick Siderowf and local legend Jerry Courville.
