About Jerry Courville Sr. (1967) – Winged Foot
Jerry Courville became the second amateur to win the Met Open with a wire-to-wire victory at Winged Foot West. Courville was four strokes ahead after 36 holes, then shot rounds of 75 and 74 in driving rain to maintain his margin. To combat the weather, Courville played the final rounds wearing heavy rain trousers and a visor to prevent the rain from fogging his eyeglasses.
