George Zahringer III (1982)
About George Zahringer III (1982)
George Zahringer became the first 3-time winner of the Player of the Year award after an incredible 1982 season.
Zahringer’s campaign began early with victories in the Long Island Amateur, and Richardson Memorial. A coveted victory at the Met Amateur gave him 255 points and gave him an early lead in the standings by August.
He finished second in the Ike Championship, and later finished third against an outstanding Met Open field.
His points total came to 690, far higher than the other Honor Roll members.
