Gene Sarazen (1925) – Grassy Sprain

Gene Sarazen passed seven rivals, including Joe Turnesa and Mike Brady, with a final round 71 to card 295 and win the championship by one stroke over Turnesa.  Until Sarazen emerged, the likely outcome of the tournament was very muddled.  The championship was played at the now-defunct Grassy Sprain, a private club located between the Bronx River Parkway and Central Avenue, south of Tuckahoe Road.
