About Alex Smith (1909) – Wykagyl
Alex Smith won his second Met Open, this time at his home club, the Wykagyl Golf Club in New Rochelle. The Championship was played in two days, 36 holes each day, and Smith started the second day’s play with a five-stroke lead, and played cautiously, but admirably to score 157 for 36 holes. His 72-hole score of 306 helped lead him to win by two-strokes. In all, eight cash prizes were offered.
