The Executive Committee of the Metropolitan Golf Association believed that there was a need for the local golfing community to properly acknowledge the outstanding contributions that local residents have made to the game of golf and its related activities. The MGA’s Long Range Planning Committee was authorized to explore the feasibility of having the MGA provide a forum for this recognition. After several months of study, this Committee formulated a proposal creating an annual MGA Distinguished Service Award which was subsequently approved by the Executive Committee.

The Basis of the Award:

This award will be presented annually in recognition of distinguished service to golf and its related activities, within the Metropolitan Area, consistent with the valued standards and honorable traditions of the game.
