About Bobby Heins (1989) – Bethpage Black

Bobby Heins defended his title successfully, defeating George Zahringer III by two strokes in a three-hole aggregate-score playoff.  Heins started the final round four strokes behind Zahringer, who had just one bogie over the first two rounds, but four in the third round and two more in the playoff.  This marked the first time the MGA conducted the Met Open over a public course, and brought Bethpage Black into the Championship spotlight.
