About Jimmy Roberts (2016)
Jimmy Roberts has been a long-time broadcaster and writer, covering everything from Super Bowls and World Series to Winter Olympics. While he dabbled in all types of sports coverage, golf is the sport he has committed his time and effort to. In 2000, he joined NBC Sports and is currently the leading essayist, interviewer, feature reporter and studio host for NBC and Golf Channel’s coverage of the PGA TOUR.
The 13-time Emmy Award Winner prides himself as a “914 guy”, having grown up in the Met Area. In his youth, Roberts learned to play here and caddied Fenway Golf Club in White Plains. Currently a member at Westchester Country Club, Roberts remains active in the Met Area, despite his high-profile work. Roberts is an oft-sought dinner host and emcee for golf events. He has done voice-overs for the MGA’s caddie-training videos and assisted with the Met PGA Section’s Educational Forum. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association.
Most importantly, Roberts will undoubtedly continue as Westchester’s leading golf ambassador to the world at large, representing and reflecting the values of the game he learned while working and playing on our golf courses. When presented with the honor in 2016, Roberts was extremely humbled by the honor.
